The 10 Minute Daily Skin Care Routine

The 10 Minute Daily Skin Care Routine

The key to healthy, beautiful skin may be as simple as 10 minutes once per day! That’s the amount of time it takes to complete your daily skincare routine at home, which can help you keep your face looking young and fresh in the years to come. Here’s how to do it!

1) Cleansing

Cleansing Skin

The first step of a daily skincare routine should be to cleanse your face. This process is best done with a soft, natural sponge and some warm water. Exfoliating once per week is another important part of your home skincare routine—try using homemade sugar scrub or St. Ives Apricot Scrub in between salon appointments! To hydrate your skin, you can follow up cleansing with a toner (the consistency of which can vary depending on personal preference). Finally, for optimal beauty results, it’s important to moisturize after you wash; coconut oil makes an excellent non-greasy moisturizer that absorbs quickly into your skin. While salon facials are a great way to keep healthy-looking skin year-round, they aren’t necessary if you keep up at home! Remember: Beauty begins from within.

2) Exfoliating

Exfoliating

Whether you’re using a face wash or a scrub, exfoliating is a daily necessity. Just like your body needs to shed old skin cells to stay healthy, so does your face. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and environmental buildup that keep your complexion from being its best. Find a gentle exfoliant (one with small granules) that works with your skin type—dry, oily, or combination—and apply it once per day after cleansing and toning.

3) Hydrating

Hydrating

To maintain health and beauty, it’s important to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. This simple action can improve your complexion and help you avoid cracking or wrinkling your skin. It can also keep you healthy throughout your day; hydration is one of many things that keeps our bodies running smoothly and efficiently.

4) Treatments (mask/serum)

Skin Treatment

If you have time in your morning routine for a mask, you should also be making time for a serum. Serums work by penetrating more deeply into the skin than moisturizers and other treatments, delivering more of their ingredients to the skin at once. These are particularly effective when used in conjunction with masks to deliver antioxidants and other active ingredients that improve skin health. The result? More hydrated, less wrinkled-looking skin in just one week!

5) Sunscreen

Sun Screen

Since sunlight is one of your skin’s biggest stressors, it’s important to use sunscreen every day.

SPF 15 sunscreens should be sufficient for everyday use. If you’re planning on being outside for

extended periods, consider using a higher-level sunscreen (at least SPF 30). Sunscreen

should be applied to dry skin at least 20 minutes before exposure to direct sunlight.

6) Moisturizer

Moisturizer

Moisturizer helps remove dead skin cells, which can block pores. Choose a product with at least SPF

15 and apply moisturizer every morning and before bed to prevent fine lines and keep your complexion

looking young. Make sure to use moisturizer after washing your face because soap can dehydrate y

our skin. Moisturizers come in lotions, creams, gels, serums, mousses, and oils.

7) Spot treatments (if needed)

Spot treatments

Because acne can pop up quickly, having a variety of products on hand to treat blemishes as they occur will help you maintain a clear complexion. We recommend spot treatments with Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid, which are proven skin-clearing ingredients that help prevent future breakouts without drying out your skin. Try this Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Spot Treatments to get started.
